Known as Zavattari’s Chapel, from the name of the artists who frescoed it in 15th century, it hosts the legendary Iron Crown of Lombardy, consisting of a circlet of gold fitted around a central iron band, which according to legend was beaten out of a nail of the True Cross. The crown was used in Charlemagne’s coronation as King of the Lombards.
