Missouri, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania: after four major stops, Keith Haring’s exhibition finally lands in Italy, specifically in Monza, in the Orangerie of Villa Reale. Here is all the information not to be missed to visit it.
Keith Haring in Monza: an appointment to mark in your diary.
It is entitled “Keith Haring. Radiant Vision” the exhibition set up in the Orangery of Villa Reale from 30th September to 29th January 2023. A title that presages the mood of the exhibition, a true hymn to the creativity of the American pop artist who rewrote the rules of contemporary art. The exhibition consists of over 100 works from a private collection, including lithographs, serigraphs, drawings on paper and posters.
“Keith Haring. Radiant Vision’ is a tribute not only to the artist’s (short but prolific) career, but also to his commitment to social justice. A tribute that examines different aspects of the artist’s life and output, including underground and street art drawings, exhibitions in some of New York’s most famous galleries, the Pop Shop and his commercial work.
The exhibition itinerary is divided into nine sections: from one dedicated to iconography to one where the central theme is social justice, passing through a section illustrating the work made with young people. Not to be missed is the largest print ever made by Haring entitled “Medusa Head”, more than two meters long and almost one and a half meters high: a reinterpretation of the Medusa myth that for Haring symbolised the AIDS monster, the disease that led to his early death.
